Painting The Sky (Valley)

A Monroe must-see are the works of hometown icon and legendary muralist, David Hose, who is well known for his unmistakable brand of colorful realism, along with his unique ability to tell a story without using a single word.

Bringing personality to many building in Historic Downtown Monroe, his paintings have illuminated Sky Valley history with depth and accuracy, each mural is artfully woven together with countless details, anecdotes, and little bits of local treasure.

Monroe Historical Society and Museum

Exploring the History of Monroe, Washington and the Sky Valley.



Started in 1864 by Henry McClurg as the settlement of Park Place, Monroe experienced rapid growth in the early 1900s due to its rich farmlands and abundant timber, and its proximity to the Great Northern Railroad. Monroe is scenically set against the foothills of the Cascade Range, near where the Snoqualmie and Skykomish Rivers join to form the Snohomish.



The Monroe Historical Society is an all-volunteer organization that was founded in 1976. The Society opened its museum in 1982 in Monroe’s original two-story City Hall building at 207 East Main Street. As well as a wide-ranging collection of local historical artifacts, the museum maintains a variety of local history resources.

Music In The Park

Join us for a free summer concert series playing four Friday's in July at Lake Tye Park. Hosted by the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, together with the the City of Monroe. Enjoy live music, beer garden, and food trucks in a family-friendly, lakeside setting. Visit the event's facebook page for more information.



Movies Under The Moon


On Friday nights in August, outdoor movies are shown free of charge at Lake Tye Park. Crafts and activities for kids 12 and under are offered starting at 8 pm, and free popcorn is provided during the movie! Monroe’s Parks & Recreation department supplies an outdoor screen and the movie selections.
