Snohomish County is part of the ancestral homelands of the Coast Salish Peoples including the Tulalip, Snohomish, Stillaguamish, and Sauk-Suiattle Tribes. Their cultural influences and heritage are prevalent throughout the region, and are preserved and shared through the 50-acre Hibulb Cultural Center & Natural History Preserve. Urban & Rural
When it comes to mixing urban sophistication with rural charm, there is perhaps no better place to do so than Snohomish County. Similar in size to its Japanese sister city of Iwakuni, the city of Everett is the region's urban, economic, and commercial hub. Outside of this urban core there are many small rural communities and towns to explore, which boast everything from historic downtowns and antique stores, to unique restaurants and shops, and agritourism farms to visit.
Cascade Loop Scenic Byway
Known as Washington’s Ultimate Road Trip and one of America’s most beautiful drives, a large portion of the 440-mile Cascade Loop National Scenic Byway passes through Snohomish County. In fact, the official start of the Cascade Loop is in the waterfront community of Mukilteo, where the first segment of the journey passes through the towns of Everett, Monroe, Snohomish, Sultan, and finally Skykomish, before venturing further east and over the Cascade Mountains.
