Sea to Sky: 3 Day Itinerary
Travel from the sea to the sky this autumn in Snohomish County. You’ll have a meaningful journey along the way. Take the time. Stop and smell the pines.
Fall isn’t always a season associated with time on the beach. Which is really too bad. After the summer crowds have deflated their floaties and packed up their sunscreen, the quiet beaches of the Pacific Northwest take on the spectral beauty of autumn. Imagine spending a foggy morning balancing as you walk down driftwood, a steaming Americano in hand, gazing across the Salish Sea at islands covered in incandescent foliage.
This is how you could spend your fall season in Snohomish County. And here’s how to make it the perfect day trip.
Sign up for an art class at Graphite. This brand new, uber chic building is both a gallery and a collaborative studio where visitors can learn to paint, draw, and sculpt. You’ll want to sign up for classes online before your visit.
Take a ferry ride. Washington State ferries are iconic with their green and white paint – and the ferry network here is the third largest in the world. Bike or walk aboard for a quick jaunt across Puget Sound to Kingston. Perhaps you’ll be lucky enough to spot one of our three resident orca pods or a flotilla of jellyfish. You’re pretty much guaranteed a fantastic view of the Olympic and Cascade Mountains unless the weather is super rainy.
Back in Edmonds, stop at Market for a true PNW seafood lunch. Enjoy lobster rolls, shrimp, oysters and salmon prepped in a variety of ways.
Half an hour north of Edmonds you’ll discover the seaside city of Everett. Everett boasts the second largest public marina on the West Coast. Check out The Muse. It’s a whiskey bar and coffee shop located within the historic Weyerhaeuser House. Linger for a solid cup of coffee and a view of sailboats and yachts bobbing in the Everett Marina.
Head to downtown Everett to find Capers + Olives for farm to table dining. Find Chef Jimmy and company chopping up the best of seasonal produce and fresh seafood for your dining pleasure. This tiny bistro has exposed brick walls and offers a cozy reprieve against the autumn chill.
