From the peaks of the Cascade Mountains, to the shores of the Salish Sea, and everything in between, the opportunities for outdoor experiences are endless in Snohomish County. Popular activities include river rafting, hiking, camping, biking, farm visits, skiing, beachcombing, and more. Snohomish County has almost 1,000 km of trails and is in close proximity to three National Parks.
National Parks
Snohomish County offers visitors unbeatable access to some of the country's most beautiful National Parks. Located within driving distance of North Cascades National Park, Mount Rainier National Park, and Olympic National Park, it is the ideal gateway destination for park exploration.
North Cascades National Park
The North Cascades National park is home to over 300 glaciers, jagged peaks, cascading waters, and vast areas of wilderness.
Olympic National Park
Olympic National Park covers over 3,733 km² and includes coastline, mountains, and a temperate rainforest which receives over 370 cm of rain annually.
Mount Rainier National Park
Mount Rainier is the highest point in the state, at over 4,390 m. There are more than 25 glaciers descending the flanks of this volcano.
Stevens Pass
A world-class resort tucked in a quiet corner, just east of Snohomish County, Stevens Pass has some of the best skiing and riding the Cascades Mountains have to offer and incredible mountain biking and hiking trails during the summer months.
Winter Season - With an average of 1,168 cm annual snowfall, Stevens is known for its deep powder days and 455 hectares of skiing and snowboarding terrain that runs the gamut from beginner-friendly runs to steep chutes, tree skiing, and easy access into endless backcountry terrain just outside the resort gates.
Summer Season - Nestled amidst vibrant wildflowers and old growth trees, Stevens Pass is a mountain community enjoyed by nature-lovers year round and is the home to disc golf courses, renowned hiking on the Pacific Crest Trail, and one of only two mountain biking terrains in Washington.
RIVER RAFTING
The coastal marine climate and the sharp rise of the mountains means plentiful snow and rain to feed the rivers. As the rivers plunge towards the sea they create dynamic rapids that quickens the pulse and calm eddies for quiet reflection of the surrounding beauty. With over 9,100 km of rivers and numerous local guides and outfitters, river rafting is an exciting and safe activity enjoyed by thousands of visitors each year.

FARMS
Between the rugged mountains and the salt water seas lie the fertile river valleys. These valleys showcase an incredible bounty for the senses and the palate. The wide-open land is scattered with flower fields and farms where visitors can taste the delightful flavors of sun-ripened fruits and berries at the many u-pick farms. Summertime also means farmers markets are in full swing around the county. Here local produce is for sale, alongside the wares of artisans and crafters.
HOT AIR BALLOON RIDES
Hot air balloons pre-date airplanes by 120 years and at over 27 meters tall modern balloons are an amazing site to see. Summer is the perfect time to take flight in these magnificently colorful balloons and from a height of over 500 meters, the views of the surrounding Cascade and Olympics Mountains is unforgettable. There are two main tour operators and tours are available seven days a week. While flights last between 60-75 minutes, the entire event can take from 3 to 3 ½ hours.
