You Need To Know About Zoey's Fried Chicken Sandwiches
When is a place too good not to share?
Everett foodies keep Zoey's Fried Chicken sandwiches close to the vest. I've lived here for years and only recently heard about Zoey's from a friend, the kind of guy who would make it his business to know about the best sandwich in town.
Let's be upfront. If you're not looking for Zoey's you won't find it. It's tucked into a small combination strip mall/condo unit near a gas station on Casino Road, near the Boeing Factory. The actual restaurant is mostly hidden by shrubbery. The interior is spartan -- some tables and chairs, the walls filled with graffiti-style prints, an oversize comic book about feminism, and a hand-drawn portrait of George Floyd.
And those sandwiches... this is where the zealous fandom comes in. They are fried to perfection, evenly breaded and seasoned, and come with a pickle. That's it. That's the whole thing and they do it remarkably well. It's a winning formula.
Zoey's is open seven days a week, consistently turning out these amazing chicken sandwiches that people travel miles for. When I was there I talked to a couple of Seattle residents, professional chefs who had made a day trek north to Everett just to eat a Zoey's sandwich. They raved about the jalapeno chicken sandwich in particular.

Zoey's is owned and operated by Aissa Mbaye and her family. Mbaye is from Niger and her culinary roots go deep -- she says she started cooking at age twelve. Her laugh and unassuming warmth are contagious. The restaurant seems to be a community hub in the heart of the diverse Casino Road neighborhood where 1 in 4 residents are foreign-born and 80% of the student body at the local elementary school identify as a race other than white.
When you come to Seattle NorthCountry, add a stop at Zoey's Fried Chicken to your to-do list. They also do Uber Eats, so you can order a sandwich from the convenience of your hotel room or AirBnB.
The best chicken sandwiches in town? The secret's out, but maybe some things are just too good not to share.
