The Top Coffee Shops in Snohomish County
Thought experiment: imagine going on vacation in a place that didn’t have any good coffee. You wake up in your hotel room and have to drink coffee from that little hotel room coffee maker. Coffee that’s made from tepid hotel bathroom sink water. It tastes burnt at best, watery at worst. Because you tried to make coffee in a hotel room.
Unthinkable. You need to know where the good coffee is now. Now!
No matter where you find yourself in Snohomish County, you’re within striking distance (sipping distance?) of some of the top-tier coffee that is synonymous with Pacific Northwest culture. Find your best coffee bets below.
Moe's Coffee, Arlington
434 N Olympic Ave, Arlington, WA 98223
Enjoy this boho chic coffee shop in downtown Arlington. If you like white subway tile, Ficus plants, and wearing broad-brimmed hats indoors, this is your jam. Jokes aside, there’s quality in the Moe’s cuppa Joe. Indeed, it’s a gr4eat bet for coffee in the upper east side of the county. P.S. they also have a coffee stand in nearby Darrington if you want to fuel up on caffeine before heading out to the mountains.
Caffe Ladro, Lynnwood
6314 196th St SW, Lynnwood, WA 98036
This mid mod coffee shop warrants a visit for a vibe check. Pull into their parking lot, just off a rather busy stretch of 169th Street in Lynnwood. Once inside treat yourself to a quiet beverage while looking out the giant windows. Which midcentury character are you? Maybe the bohemian artist mulling over a manuscript that will redefine confessional poetry? Perhaps the company man with a skinny tie and a briefcase full of blueprints for a more efficient toaster oven? Choose your own daydream and linger for a moment. You owe that to yourself.
Walnut Street Coffee, Edmonds
410 Walnut St, Edmonds, WA 9802
What makes a community coffee shop work? There is a certain element that causes folks to linger for a moment longer, make small talk with their neighbor on the stool, take out the ear pods and have a vulnerable human chat. Walnut Street Coffee is such a place. It’s non-corporate, community-driven and one hundred percent devoid of corny art. A quality Americano in a decent environment. What else could you ask for?
Proper Joe Coffeehouse, Snohomish
1101 1st St, Snohomish, WA 98290
Roasted in Snohomish, Proper Joe’s is housed in a tiny brick building off of the main street in downtown Snohomish. It’s a great bet for delicious coffee in Snohomish. Which is great, because you can take it to go and spend the day perusing the antique stores up and down the street or go walking along the riverfront and the Centennial Trail. This coffee is the flavor fuel to spend a full day doing all things Snohomish.
Makario Coffee Roasters, Everett
2613 Colby Ave, Everett, WA 98201
If you’re not from Everett, odds are that you’ll never find “Makario” when you’re in town. And that’s a shame. This little coffee shop is perfectly secreted away in a shopping complex off of Colby Avenue. Makario roasts their coffee in house. They make beverages that you likely wouldn’t expect (i.e. Viennese “einspanner”, Dutch affogato, black sesame mocha). If you’re a total coffee nerd and like sipping on deep cuts from the espresso machine as crafted by an artisan, this is just the place for you.
