New Airport North of Seattle - Seattle Paine Field International Airport (PAE)
This won't be your typical airport with the long lines, the maze of parking, the indefinitely-branching corridors of escalators.
The Seattle Paine Field International Airport terminal will offer travelers a boutique experience with phone chargers in every chair, concierge service, and a true northwest lodge “feel.”
Seattle Paine Field International Airport in Everett, Washington (PAE) will start offers commercial flights. Flights are on sale now through Alaska Airlines.
Two major airlines are lined up to offer flights to and from the little big city north of Seattle — Alaska Airlines and United Airlines and will offer a combined 24 daily flights from Snohomish County to cities in the western United States.
This is exciting news for the region of Seattle NorthCountry, as the tech boom of Seattle continues to push residents further north into the scenic wilderness areas of Snohomish County.
What this means, practically, for visitors, is an almost-direct gateway to the true PNW. It means you can fly into an urban, non-Seattle city and find yourself absolutely alone in the foggy wilds of the Cascade Mountains about 45 minutes later.
The (PAE) Experience:
Accessible Luxury
The Paine Field Aviation District is much more than airports and runways.
It’s home to aviation museums and tours, like Boeing’s Future of Flight tour (8415 Paine Field Blvd, Mukilteo) which takes you through the largest building by volume in the world, as well as the late Paul Allen’s Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum (3407 109th St SW, Everett).
Hungry travelers will find dietary respite in the nearby coastal communities of Mukiteo and Everett.
The Mukiteo waterfront is 4 miles northwest of the terminal and is the getway to Whidbey Island via ferry and wonderful coastal restaurants. Between Ivar's Mukiteo Landing, Arnie's Restaurant & Bar and Diamond Knot Brewery & Alehouse you'll have trouble deciding on which Northwest dining experience to try first.
Visit Capers + Olives (2933 Colby Avenue) for authentic Italian food and brick wall charm. Nearby Narrative Coffee (2927 Wetmore Avenue) serves hot handcrafted beverages in a natural-light hipster chic setting. Out of town visitors looking for deliciously fresh Northwest seafood will be delighted by Anthony’s HomePort (1726 W Marine View Dr, Everett) on the waterfront.
