A Weekend In Mukilteo
A perfect PNW seaside getaway with a view.
If you don’t know Mukilteo, you probably should. It’s home to the cutest lighthouse park on the edge of the Salish Sea. Catch island views between clumps of seaside grasses.
Relax on a driftwood bench for an evening bonfire on the beach. Linger over an ice cream cone, catch a ferry, spot a grey whale. Breathe in all that sea breeze.
Here are the top things to do during a Mukilteo weekend.
Find accommodations at the Silver Cloud Inn, where most hotel rooms open up directly onto the shoreline. Experience views of Gedney, Camano, Jetty, and Whidbey Islands, as well as the Cascade Mountains (including an always-impressive Mount Baker).
Grubable food is within walking distance of Silver Cloud. Diamond Knot is a family-friendly brewpub serving beer and bar-style diner food. Hit up their walk-up window during the summer for an ice cream to go. Take that ice cream a block away to the beach. Perfect.
Recreation is a few blocks from the Silver Cloud at the Japanese Gulch trailhead. Miles of trail lead you up into a wooded gulch. Enjoy trail running, an off-leash dog park, and many winding hiking routes. View interactive trail map.
Have we talked up the waterfront enough? It’s an easy stroll to the Mukilteo waterfront and lighthouse. Enjoy a bonfire, views of the Olympic Mountains, and Washington State ferries in action. There’s a modern playground and picnic area for families. History buffs can take the lighthouse tour. Remarkable!
You’ll need to refuel after your Muk adventures. Let’s go!
- Red Cup Coffee for an adorable family-owned coffee shop experience with secluded outdoor seating.
- Brooklyn Bros. for authentic New York-style flat crust pizza by the slice. They make their dough fresh daily.
- Red Cork Bistro for the upscale brunch or lunch. Deli foods and fine wine selections. Highly recommended by locals.
One last thing. People come from around the world to experience Boeing’s Future of Flight Museum. This immersive experience takes you into the cutting edge of aerospace technology via interactive exhibits, flight simulators, drone cages, and robotics workshops. Hit up their gift store for all the Boeing-branded swag.
